These suggestions are for online SLAA newcomers. These are all actionable, concrete tasks that any newcomer can start right away. These actions help us practice willingness, which is a core attribute of 12-step recovery.
Go to at least 90 meetings in 90 days
Include your phone number & location in your zoom name [e.g. "John R , NYC (917) 847-2538"]
Every meeting take the following actions:
Keep your camera on
Raise your hand & share
Post your "fellowship blurb" at an appropriate time (see example below)
For every fellow's phone number included in their names or posted in the chat:
Save their contact including name, last initial & location. Label them as "SLAA"
Call or text every number stating your fellowship blurb
Continue doing #1-4 until you accumulate 200 SLAA contacts & acquire a sponsor
From these 200 SLAA contacts, you will develop a list of 10+ close fellows you deeply connect with who will form the core of your SLAA support network, and also identify possible sponsor(s).
Suggested fellowship blurb, personalize the language as you see fit:
"[John R, NYC (917) 847-2538], newcomer to SLAA. Actively seeking fellowship and a sponsor. Ready and willing to work the steps. Pls txt name first. Thank you!"
